Paktofonika was founded in 1998 in Katowice, and it consisted of three Silesian rappers: Fokus, Rahim and Magik, who was already a well-known figure on the Polish hip-hop scene (earlier he performed in the band Kaliber 44).
In the same group, the group also recorded its first songs. In turn, on December 19, 2000, their first album – «Kinematografia» was released. However, her success was overshadowed by a tragic event. A week later (26/12/200) the magician committed suicide by jumping from the 9th floor of his skyscraper. The other members of the group for a long time could not recover after this event, for a moment they even suggested the breakup of the band, but after some time they started working again.

Paktofonika powstała w 1998 roku w Katowicach, a w jej skład weszło trzech śląskich raperów: Fokus, Rahim oraz Magik, będący już wówczas dobrze znaną postacią na polskiej scenie hip-hopowej (wcześniej występował w zespole Kaliber 44).
W tym samym grupa nagrała też swoje pierwsze utwory. Z kolei 19 grudnia 2000 roku ukazała się ich pierwsza płyta – «Kinematografia». Jej sukces przyćmiło jednak tragiczne wydarzenie. Tydzień później (26.12.200 r.) Magik popełnił samobójstwo, skacząc z 9 piętra swojego wieżowca. Pozostali członkowie grupy przez dłuższy czas nie potrafili się pozbierać po tym zdarzeniu, przez moment nawet sugerowali rozpad zespołu, ale po jakimś czasie zaczęli na nowo działać.
